Using the REDPACK7 PANEL in other 'RED ARROWS' aircraft
_______________________________________________________

**IMPORTANT - if you wish to use the REDPACK7 panel in earlier REDPACK aircraft, you must replace their airfiles with the ones found in the 'Updated Airfiles' folder within the RED7UPD.ZIP download. Otherwise, there will be minor problems with the functionality of the panel. If you have already tried the panel in other aircraft prior to this update, you may have noticed lack of hydraulics and warning lights that would not go off!**

INSTALLATION in the earlier single, four or nine formation aircraft:

Open the respective aircraft's folder under FS2002/AIRCRAFT, and delete the contents of the folder PANEL.LITE

Carefully copy the contents of the PANEL folder in your new GMAX aircraft - after first updating your panel with the files within RED7UPD.ZIP, that is - and paste them into the folder PANEL.LITE in your old aircraft.

Hey presto! You will now have the choice of two panels in your earlier aircraft: the old panel, with all exterior views unchanged, and the new panel as an alternative.

See notes below before installation.

Please note, if you're flying a SINGLE Hawk with the new panel:

1. To get rid of the formation 'Reds' aircraft in the mirrors, you'll need to make the following change to your new panel's PANEL.CFG file (back it up first, just in case).

Replace lines:

gauge44=hwpeiliREDS!peili_l, 52,6,179,210
gauge45=hwpeiliREDS!peili_r, 1005,10,175,197

with:

gauge44=hwpeili!peili_l, 52,6,179,210
gauge45=hwpeili!peili_r, 1005,10,175,197

You already have the alternative gauge (no following aircraft) in the download REDPACK7.ZIP. This is the original by Kari Virtanen without my tweaks, from the excellent Finnish 'Midnight Hawks' package (midhwani.zip).

2. If you do not want to hear the formation callouts everytime you change flap settings on other aircraft using this panel, you will need to remove the following line from your PANEL.CFG under [Window01]:

gauge**=Hawk.formation!callouts, 0,0,25 (the gauge number may vary)

Then renumber the subsequent gauges accordingly.

3. For the NAV radios to function properly in other earlier aircraft, this section must replace the RADIOS section in that aircraft's AIRCRAFT.CFG (back up the file first):

[Radios]
// Radio Type=availiable, standby frequency, has glide slope
Audio.1=1
Com.1=1, 1
Com.2=1, 1
Nav.1=1, 1, 1
Nav.2=1, 1, 0
Adf.1=1
Transponder.1=1
Marker.1=1

The only disadvantage of doing this is that you may lose the NAV radio functionality in your old panel (REDPACK1-6.ZIP). Time to decide with which panel you are going to navigate! Otherwise, the old panel will function fine.

Note also that, in similar fashion to the installation instructions above, this new panel can be aliased to any other Hawk aircraft even if that aircraft has a VC, as this new panel has no views other than the main forward aspect with side panels. If the respective aircraft's airfile is not FS2002 compatible, however, you will lose some functionality.

So fly Reds!

For easy reference, previous REDPACK uploads to REDPACK7.ZIP were:

REDPACK.ZIP The initial Reds package. Standalone, but enhanced by the addition of REDPACK6.ZIP

REDPACK1.ZIP Single T.MK1 A Hawk aircraft with panel and specific internal/external views

REDPACK2.ZIP Flyable formation "Gypo Section" - four Hawk aircraft with panel and specific internal/external views

REDPACK3.ZIP Flyable formation "Diamond Nine" - nine Hawk aircraft with panel and specific internal/external views

REDPACK4.ZIP Gauges, Effects (and Documents) REQUIRED by any/all of the above (but not REDPACK7)

REDPACK5.ZIP Soundset for the Hawk aircraft (recommended for REDPACK7)

REDPACK6.ZIP Extra Views for "Gypo" and "Diamond" and generic panel Upgrade Pack for FSDS versions
